A Buddy's Experience

Since two months ago, A Typhoon Vamco or also known as Typhoon Ulysses hit the mainland of Luzon causing a hundred thousand casualties with a destructive wind of 213km/h. This typhoon caused a massive flood to Metro manila, San Mateo, Montalban and other places within NCR. I will never forget this tragic experienced, somehow it is similar to Typhoon Ondoy.

On the 11th of November 2020, Our electricity has been shut off and around seven in the morning, my mom woke me up because the water level of the Marikina river is 22m high and water have already entered our house. It happened so fast until before lunch, the flood is already on the first step of the stairs. We thought, typhoon will only bring strong winds. The flood lasted for 16hrs that is why we stayed in the second floor in our home. We didn't have electricity because of the strong winds. The water started to lay low around 11pm, we started clean even if it was night time. We had electricity the next day. When everything is already fine, we organized things for donations for those who were affected by the typhoon.

Since this experience, our family prioritized on preparing precautionary measurements before the typhoon. This is why it is very important to learn about our previous post on what to do BEFORE, DURING, and AFTER a typhoon to lessen the casualties due to the typhoon. May this experience be a lesson to us all that typhoon preparation should be taken seriously because this can be very destructive and can take away innocent lives. Stay safe buddies!
